Hitachi GST Completes Acquisition of Substrate Manufacturing Facility

SAN JOSE, Calif. – July 2, 2009 – Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has completed the previously-announced
acquisition of a substrate manufacturing facility located in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The facility, previously owned and operated by Western Digital, produces aluminum
substrates used in hard disk drives.

team to play an important role in the continued growth of Hitachi GST,” said

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
