CE-ATA
http://www.ce-ata.org/
Leading industry consumer and storage companies are spearheading the CE-ATA initiative to define a storage interface tailored to the needs of the handheld and consumer electronics (CE) market segments. The promoter companies for the new initiative are Hitachi , Intel, Marvell, Nokia, Seagate, and Toshiba. The objective of the initiative is to define a standard interface for small form factor disk drives that addresses the requirements of the handheld and CE market segments, including low pin count, low voltage, power efficiency, cost effectiveness, and integration efficiency. The creation of CE-ATA technology is necessary to address these specific requirements and respond to the needs of today’s quickly changing environment.

Hitachi GST is a CE-ATA promoter member and holds a position on the steering committee.

Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA)
http://www.fibrechannel.org/
The Fibre Channel Industry Association is a mutual benefit non-profit international organization of manufacturers, system integrators, developers, vendors, industry professionals and end users. The FCIA is committed to delivering a broad base of Fibre Channel infrastructure technology to support a wide array of applications within the mass storage and IT-based arenas. FCIA working groups and committees focus on specific aspects of the technology, targeting both vertical and horizontal markets including data storage, video, networking and storage area networking (SAN) management.

Hitachi GST is a principle member of FCIA.

International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association (IDEMA)
http://www.idema.org/
IDEMA is an international not-for-profit trade association that represents the $22 billion HDD industry and its infrastructure. Founded in 1986, IDEMA provides more than 500 corporate and individual members worldwide with trade shows, technical conferences, symposia, education classes, networking events, and an active international standards program.

IDEMA is the hard disk drive industry's forum for proactive collaboration and leadership, which improves the health and capabilities of the industry while promoting its criticality in the IT world.

Hitachi GST is an IDEMA industry leader member and holds a position on the executive advisory board as well as two positions on the board of directors.

Information Storage Industry Consortium (INSIC)
http://www.insic.org/
The Information Storage Industry Consortium is dedicated to serving as an integrating force, bringing together the unique capabilities of industry, academia and government in the development of advanced, pre-competitive data storage technologies.

INSIC is the research consortium for the worldwide information storage industry. INSIC membership consists of more than sixty-five corporations, universities and government organizations with common interests in the field of digital information storage. Corporate membership includes major information storage product manufacturers and companies from the storage industry infrastructure. INSIC has its headquarters in San Diego and was originally incorporated in April 1991 as NSIC, a non-profit mutual benefit corporation.

Hitachi GST is a full member of INSIC.

iVDR Hard Disk Drive Consortium
http://www.ivdr.org/
Based on the concept of a removable hard disk drive, the iVDR Consortium is committed to developing iVDR technology in order to make it an industry standard as a next generation large data platform compatible with a broad range of devices from AV to PCs. Furthermore, the iVDR Consortium will work to spread iVDR use in related industries based on its strength as a platform that crosses usage barriers between devices.

Hitachi GST is a board member of the iVDR Consortium.

The MultiMediaCard Association (MMCA)
http://www.mmca.org/
The MMCA is the open standard organization that defines the physical, functional and interface specifications of MultiMediaCards (MMCs), the postage-stamp size, removable memory cards used in mobile phone, digital imaging and portable consumer electronics applications. While removable memory cards are the primary focus, the MMCA also supports the adoption of the MMC interface standard in other embedded or removable components and subsystems, such as hard disk drives.

Founded in 1998, the MMCA provides a global forum for memory card and semiconductor component suppliers, software vendors and manufacturers of mobile electronic devices who jointly endorse and promote the worldwide adoption of MultiMediaCards and the MMC standards.

Hitachi GST is an executive member of the MMCA.

Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA)
http://pcmcia.org/
PCMCIA is an international standards body and trade association with over 200 member companies that was founded in 1989 to establish standards for Integrated Circuit cards and to promote interchangeability among mobile computers where ruggedness, low power, and small size were critical. As the needs of mobile computer users has changed, so has the PC Card Standard.

Today, PCMCIA promotes the interoperability of PC Cards not only in mobile computers, but in such diverse products as digital cameras, cable TV, set-top boxes, and automobiles. As the variety of products that need modular peripheral expansion has grown, so has the diversity of the capabilities of modular peripherals. As such, PCMCIA has recently changed its mission statement: "To develop standards for modular peripherals and promote their worldwide adoption."

Hitachi GST is an affiliate member of the PCMCIA.

The Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO)
http://www.sata-io.org/
The SATA-IO is an independent, non-profit organization developed by and for leading industry companies. Officially formed in July, 2004, by incorporating the previous Serial ATA Working Group, the SATA-IO provides the industry with guidance and support for implementing the SATA specification. The standardized SATA specification replaces a 15 year old technology with a high speed serial bus supporting up to 10 years of expected future.

Members of the SATA-IO have the ability to influence, or directly contribute to the development of the SATA specifications.

Hitachi GST is board member of the SATA-IO.

SCSI Trade Association (STA)
http://www.scsita.org/
The SCSI Trade Association was formed in 1996 to promote the use and understanding of small computer system interface ("SCSI") parallel interface technology.

SD Card Association
http://www.sdcard.org/
The SD Card Association aims to establish the technical and specification standards for SD Memory Card applications, to continuously promote the SD memory card as the de-facto industry standard, and to encourage the development of digital A/V, wireless communication, and digital networking products that utilize the many unique benefits of SD technology.

Hitachi GST is an executive member of the SD Card Association.

Small Form Factor (SFF) Committee
http://www.sffcommittee.org/
The SFF Committee is an ad hoc group formed to address storage industry needs in a prompt manner. When formed in 1990, the original goals were limited to defining de facto mechanical envelopes for disk drives so they could fit into laptop computers and other small products.

In November 1992, the SFF Committee objectives were broadened to encompass any area which needs prompt industry action. The SFF Committee complements the formal standards process by filling the gap when industry needs cannot be addressed by standards because of timing, or charter, or some other consideration. Most SFF Specifications are kept narrow in scope to reduce development time.

The SFF Committee is not an attempt to replace the development process of existing standards projects but to complement it by addressing issues which may not be address by the standards process, or where there is no standards project activity. SFF Committee meetings are open to all. Participation in discussion is limited to members in good standing or those invited to speak by such members.

Hitachi GST is a member of the SFF Committee.
