Chief Financial Officer

Michael A. (Mick) Murray is chief financial officer of Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, headquartered in San Jose, Calif. In this role, he is focused on positioning the company for sustained profitability and long-term growth.

With more than 25 years of financial and operational leadership experience in both corporate and public accounting environments, Mick has deep technology industry experience and an impressive background in financial processes and controls. Immediately prior to joining Hitachi GST, he was senior vice president, Finance, and chief accounting officer at Yahoo! Inc., where he led an organization of more than 500 professionals supporting global corporate controllership, tax planning and strategy, real estate and strategic sourcing.

Prior to Yahoo!, Mick was vice president and corporate treasurer for Sun Microsystems, Inc. With Sun from 1989 to 2004, he held financial and accounting roles of increasing responsibility. He began his career at Price Waterhouse, where he spent 12 years based in San Francisco and Dublin, Ireland.

Mick holds Bachelor Commerce and Master of Business Studies degrees from University College Dublin (Ireland).
